From Yellow to Timeless: An Exterior Transformation in Hampton, NH

The Challenge

After years of exposure to New Hampshire's weather, the home's exterior was showing signs of wear, including dirt, mildew, and peeling paint. The homeowners wanted more than a cosmetic update, they wanted a finish that would protect their home while giving it a completely refreshed look.

Our Process

Every Granite State Painters project starts with proper preparation, because a great paint job is only as good as the surface beneath it. For this home, our crew:

• Soft washed the entire front of the house to remove dirt, mold, and mildew

• Scraped and sanded all loose and peeling paint

• Spot primed any areas of bare wood

• Caulked gaps throughout the trim work to lock out moisture

• Carefully masked all windows before spraying

• Applied a full prime coat to all yellow substrates, including the trim and previously painted siding

• Finished with two coats of Benjamin Moore paint on both the clapboard siding and all trim work

The project included all four sides of the home — front, back, left, and right — including dentil molding, soffits and fascia, corner boards, window sashes and frames, gable siding, deck skirting, stringers, risers, handrails, and newel posts. A porta-potty was arranged on-site for the duration of the project, and once the work was complete, our crew thoroughly cleaned the job site and removed all materials, leaving the property looking as good as the finished paint job.
